How It Works

The Gerson Lehrman Group Councils offer rewarding and convenient consulting opportunities to professionals. The six steps from completing an application to consulting and receiving payment are as follows:

Apply

Applicants fill out an online application that generally takes under five minutes to complete.

Council Membership

Once an application has been reviewed and accepted, applicants are notified by email of their membership status.

Invitation to Consult

Business and investment leaders contact Gerson Lehrman Group with inquiries about industry trends, particular products and services, or other important developments. Council Members whose backgrounds match the discussion topic may be invited by email to participate in a project such as a telephone consultation, online survey or in-person meeting.

Accept or Decline Invitation

Council Members can accept or decline an "Invitation to Consult" for any reason, and should only accept projects on topics they are comfortable with and permitted to discuss. There is no minimum time commitment and Council Members can opt-out of receiving invitations at any time.

Consult With Business and Investment Leaders

Telephone Consultations
Once an invitation has been accepted, a Council Member may be contacted by the client to schedule a convenient time to have the discussion. Participation in telephone consultations typically involves a confidential conversation with a GLG client that lasts an average of 30-60 minutes.

Online Surveys
The average survey can be completed in 10-15 minutes. Council Members can choose to keep their responses anonymous and elect to be invited to participate in follow-up consultations regarding the survey subject matter.

In-Person Meetings - Events and Visits
Council Members may be invited to in-person meetings in major metropolitan areas and at leading industry conferences nationwide. The subject matter will vary, and the meeting is designed to keep business and investment professionals informed of the latest scientific and industry developments.

Prompt Payment

Telephone Consultations
When a telephone consultation is complete, Council Members log in to www.thecouncils.com to invoice Gerson Lehrman Group. Payment is sent within one week of the invoice submission.

Online Surveys
Payments are automatically sent within one week of survey completion.

In-Person Meetings - Events and Visits
Gerson Lehrman Group automatically generates a payment to Council Members within one week of the in-person meeting.
